For how long can Ghanaians endure the madness of some politicians in the country whose primary aim is to use subtle means to seek power at the expense of ignorant majority and turn back later to insult them with impunity?
My apologies to decent men and women who have found themselves in this business of politics in the country. This is the prize you have to pay for being among some dishonourable men and women.
I personally do not agree with those who hold the assertion that politics is a dirty game and therefore it is improper for decent people to involve themselves in. The mindset of some politicians, especially, politicians in the developing world, has contributed to this maxim because of how they conduct themselves either when seeking for power or when they are in power. The interest of the citizenry is thrown to the dogs and they pursue their own selfish and inimical agenda to the detriment of the whole country.
Ghana is a classical example where such politicians abound and do not care what the rest of the people in the country go through. Since 1992 when the country embraced democracy as a form of government, the country has witnessed very deteriorating conditions in all areas of our national agenda. They [politicians] come to power with a different tongue and use different tongue to execute their agenda.
It is therefore not surprising that after many years of independence, we are still battling with bad roads, poverty, diseases, hunger, energy crisis, potable water, and lack of educational facilities among others. We were on the same pedestal with the Asian Tigers but now they are one hundred times ahead of us. The question therefore is why?
The answer is simple! This is because successive governments we have had since 1992 have been insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians. Like an American will say, they don�t give a �damn� about us. This is why I�m calling on those politicians who think they will always take us for a ride because either they think we are ignorant or we have short memories like the president himself re-echoed the same sentiment early part of his administration to sit up and revise their notes because we cannot tolerate their madness anymore.
The Arab Spring which swept many Arab countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Libya Sudan, Syria and the rest is enough example for our politicians to put their houses together and start addressing pertinent national issues affecting the economy and how to make lives better for the people who stood long hours in queues under the scorching sun to vote for them.
Many times these politicians forget that they can�t remain in power forever and for that they ought to leave a good legacy which they can be remembered for when they exit the scene. The same politicians hailed the South Africa freedom fighter, late Nelson Mandela, for the exemplary life he led before, during and after the Apartheid regime when he passed on in 2013.
What prevents them to do same and even more than what Mandela did for the South Africans? It is sheer greediness and wickedness and the winner- takes -all mentality which are hampering our progress as a nation and must be stopped now!
