I Fear A Possible Political Uprising In Ghana Before 2016 - Duncan-Williams

Archbishop of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has admonished President John Mahama to surround himself with people who are bold and have the capacity to tell him the truth. Speaking on Joy FM, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said a leaders success depends on the people around him and it is imperative the President gets the right people he can rely on. I think the success of every leader is the people you are surrounded with. I think the President must look at the leadership around him, you know, and assess everybody and see what any one there has accomplished, what kind of strength do they have, do they have capacity, what have they accomplished in life, what do they bring to the table?. You see any of the people sitting here, if you listen to them, as much as they respect my opinions, they have their opinions and they are very strong on their opinions and their convictions and that is what I like about them, and they in a very respectful manner tell me the truth. You must surround yourself with people who can speak truth to power and are not afraid and they have to be people if you fire them, can move on and they dont need you. Other than that you dont have a group of people who can tell you the truth. So I think that the President should weigh and assess everybody around him and his cabinet to see if there is any achiever among these people around him. Are they here because they are party members, are they here because they are friends and are they here because they are family or they are here because these people have capacity, they are achievers and have what it takes and I think people and the [political] parties must also allow the President to appoint anybody he wants to appoint. The Archbishop also expressed fears about a possible political uprising in Ghana before the end of 2016. According to him, I think we have to really watch our political parties and the way they handle things and putting people in office and how they come into power and everything. The founder of Action Chapel added: One of the things that I am very concerned about is the youth of this country like what happened in Tunisia, in Egypt and so we should be very careful that we dont get to a point where the youth of this country get to a point where they lose confidence in our political parties and our political system. If that happens the greatest challenge we have ahead of us as a people and a nation is not a coup dtat or the army, our army is one of the most disciplined army in Africa. So [the] army will not be an issue. It will be the youth that will rise up and take to the streets one day like what is happening in Hong Kong and it will bring everything to a standstill. And you cant vote, they will rebel against everything, he said.
