Press Confab To Bastardize Striking Workers Shows Immaturity - Lawyer

Lawyer Godfred Yeboah Dame, the legal counsel for Coalition of Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), one of the 12 labor unions on strike, has described the action by the Minister of Communication, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah to bastardize the striking workers in a press conference as immature. According to the lawyer from Akufo Addo-Prempeh & Co Chambers, it is preposterous for the Communication Minister to read politics into the Pension Tier Two saga, alleging the strike of the workers unions was instigated by Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP. He revealed that his connection with the Coalition of Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) was about 6 months ago when two directors of Ministry of Youth and Sport had recommended him to CLOGSAG after he (Odame) had help them fight a case in court against then Minister of Youth and Sport, Hon. Muntaka. I was consulted by CLOGSAG way back about 6 months ago and Im surprise to hear yesterday that the Minister of Communication is saying my connection with the case is political; some years ago I handled a case involving two directors at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in connection with Hon. Muntaka and they were impressed with the case I handled it and so some of them recommended me to CLOGSAG..I have been in this country for so long and I have done many of such cases for the past 10 years in my practice; Im surprise the minister had to read politics into this. If I wanted to foment trouble for the NDC government, how come it has taken me 6 months to do so? I was even reluctant to proceed to court and thats why my client was not the first to take the matter to court; there is absolutely no political motive to this case at all, he stated on Oman Fm's Morning Show. Lawyer Godfred Yeboah Dame however finds it strange to understand the government for first sending the striking workers to court and yet does not want to the 12 labor unions to put a defense in court. He insisted the Communications Minister's decision to engage newsmen in a Press Conference shows the government is consumed by propaganda as it is bereft of ideas to resolve situation involve the Tier Two Pension Fund management. Since 2010, the government has been violating the law and now they have rather taken the workers to court but they are crying foul that the striking workers have taken a lawyer to represent them..I think this is unacceptable; the government should be serious and do things that will necessitate the resolution of the matter rather than to resort to all these kinds pettiness. The government is just consumed by too much propaganda; instead of addressing the issue, they have used a whole press conference to bastardize workers for embarking on a strike when indeed they have not served them the court order.of course the workers will comply with the court order because we are law-abiding citizens when they are served. I think we have to call the government to order, he asserted.
