I Was Not Beaten - Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied ever being beaten by angry party supporters in the Northern region recently. Some media reports suggested Johnson Asiedu Nketia was nearly lynched after he superintended the disqualification of some six prospective candidates vying for various executive positions in the party. According to the reports, General Mosquito, as Asiedu Nketia is popularly known, was pummeled to a pulp by agitated supporters of the disqualified aspirants. The former MP, however, told Asempa FM on Tuesday that nothing of that sort ever happened. He said such false and negative reports paint a poor image of the people of the northern region as violent people a thing he condemned. According to him, contrary to the media reports of violence, there were no cudgels, guns or crude weapons used against anybody during the vetting process in the region, nor were there any attempts to beat him up.
