Surfline Gets $30m To Expand LTE Network

Ghanas 4G internet service provider Surfline Communications has announced it has concluded transactions with Vantage Mezzanine to provide USD 30 million of expansion capital to the company together with a fund co-investor. The funds will be used for the on-going expansion of Surflines LTE network in Ghana as well as to grow its product distribution and marketing network. The network achieved a successful commercial launch in August and is experiencing tremendous growth in its customer base, in both the consumer and corporate segments, Surfline said. Surfline is Vantages second investment in Ghana. Surfline officially launched Ghanas first 4G LTE network in Accra and Tema, giving both consumers and business internet speeds that are ten times faster than 3G services currently on offer. Marking the historic occasion, Surfline the only telecoms company owned 100% by Ghanaians announced a tasty, limited launch offer: free devices and double bonus for life, for all new customers. Less than 20% of Ghanaians currently use the internet; a statistic not lost on Surfline, who believe this represents an opportunity to inspire businesses, families and students to embrace the internet and achieve and experience much more, in less time. Speaking to the media at the launch, Head of Marketing Communications at Surfline, Rosey Fynn said with strong reliable network, we will actually be able to increase the internet penetration to get Ghana to be a part of a connected world.
