Ghanas Parliament Looks Like A Chinese Restaurant -Wood Workers

Spokesperson for the Tema Wood Workers Association, Delali Amexo, has described Ghana's newly refurbished Parliament as no different from a Chinese restaurant. After giving a contract to a Chinese company and ignoring the local workers, what do you expect your Parliament to look like? Certainly, it looks like a Chinese restaurant he declared on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem Friday. Ghana's Parliament has been refurbished with furniture imported from China, incurring the wrath of local artisans. But just a day after members resumed sitting, some of the imported chairs and tables are reportedly breaking apart. This has generated heated debate with many including furniture manufacturers, who say it is a sharp about face from President Mahama's campaign to promote made in Ghana goods. Local companies Tema Wood Workers Association and KPOGAS furniture Works have expressed disgust at their exclusion from the procurement process. Spokesperson of the Tema wood workers, Delali Amexo, challenged Parliament to pack away the imported furniture and replace it with the old ones. Parliament should pack all the chairs and bring in the old ones. I suggest they give them to the District directors so that we can manufacture good ones for them. Local carpenters are very worried and so Parliament should do something about it.
