Stop Needless Argument About Who Keeps Pension Fund Pratt

Mr.Kwesi Pratt Jnr. Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper is adamant that the arguments about who keeps workers pension fund is totally needless. To him, the prime focus of the concerned individuals involved in the pension fund quagmire ought to have directed their energies and concerns towards the safety of the old folks after retirement. What we should be discussing is how comfortable pensioners would live after retirement and not which financial institution keeps their money, he said. For some time now, some public sector workers in the country have embarked on a strike action to register their disapproval with the government over claims that the latter has failed to account for the former's pension funds. The workers have therefore sought clarification on the management of their second tier pension contributions and expressed doubts about government's intent to secure their monies. Some have argued that their pensions have been handed over to Pension Alliance Trust, an accredited Trustee selected by the Pension Committee to manage the funds and believe the monies are given to Pension Alliance Trust to purchase Merchant Bank. But speaking to Radio Golds Alhassan Suhiyini on Alhaji and Alhaji Saturday, Mr. Pratt said the issue about pension fund is one that should be handled in the interest of the pensioners and not in the interest of those who should manage the fund.
