NADMO District Coordinator Threatens To Sue NDC Activists

The National Disaster Management (NADMO) Coordinator for Asante Mampong, Alhaji Moro Iddrisu, has threatened to sue three National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth activists for making damning allegations against him. The youth activists are Mr Collins Bonsu, Mr Agyin Frimpong and Mr James Peprah. The three in a petition to President John Dramani Mahama and copied to the security agencies accused the NADMO District Coordinator of diverting relief items comprising 500 bags of cement, unspecified quantities of plastic cups, mosquito nets, blankets, roofing sheets and baskets. In the petition signed by the three on September 8, the group claimed that even though the NADMO Coordinator had also been sharing the relief items with victims, he inflated the quantities in his record books, thus undercutting the quantities supplied to beneficiaries. But Alhaji Iddrisu who is also the NDC chairman in the Mampong constituency, told the GNA that the allegations were baseless, laughable and calculated to tarnish his hard won reputation in his six years of relentless service to the organisation. Since I assumed office in 2009 to date I have never received a bag of cement from either national, region or philanthropists, I challenge them to disclose the source if not I will go to court to clear my name, he said. He said there were procedures for sharing relief items and supplies came with way bill documents which could not in any way be varied or manipulated. Alhaji Iddrisu said the Economic and Organised Crime Office, the Bureau of National Investigation and NADMO officials have since commenced investigation into the matter, adding: I have been invited for interrogation and they have also been here at Mampong to find things for themselves. He welcomed the investigation but said court action was the option to determine the basis of the allegation and to clear his name of any probable wrongdoing. The Coordinator claimed that the allegation was politically motivated given that the petitioners alleged he diverted the items in connivance with the former Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Daniel Appau Ohyeamang who is currently under investigation by the security agencies. But the spokesperson for the petitioners, Mr Collins Bonsu said that NADMO Coordinator could head to court, saying, we are very sure of the authenticity of our source of information and we expect the security agencies to do a thorough job.
