Gas Flow To Atuabo Is To Test The Processing Plant - Alfred Ogbamey

The Communication Manager of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas), Alfred Ogbamey says the first flow of the natural gas from the Jubilee Fields to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant on Monday is only a test programme being carried out by his outfit. According to him, the commissioning process is to rectify any challenges associated with the processing plant. He explained that the process is not for commercial production but rather to verify the efficacy of the process. The purpose of the gas that has flowed is to enable us begin what we call a commissioning process which means; it now gives us opportunity to test the processing plant; the part that we havent tested to make sure its working according to the way it was designed, specification and its constructionIt is important to know that that is the practice all over the world. Natural gas started flowing from the Jubilee Fields to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant on Monday, despite warnings from the Energy Commission. The Energy Commission wrote to stop the Ghana National Gas Company from flowing the natural gas from the Jubilee Fields to the plant. Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Alfred Ogbamey opined that some reports about the flow of the gas have been misconstrued. He therefore intimated that the process was to enhance knowledge and also provide detailed information on the programme, hence debunking any claims that the process may have dire consequences on the economy. So far, so good; the process of commissioning [let me state it now] itself, is meant to identify challenges and correct them," he said.
