We Look Forward To Labour Unions Resuming Strike Action - Kwamena Duncan

NPP Central Regional Secretary, Kwamena Duncan has described as "bogus" the Pension Act regulating the tier 2 pension contributions of workers in the country. Workers in the country had been on strike for some weeks to kick against the action by government to allow Pension Alliance Trust to manage their pension funds, were asked to go back to work after the government pursued the case in court. Following the ruling, the labour unions battling with government over their tier 2 pension scheme, have filed a counter suit seeking some relief against their employer. Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kwamena Duncan lauded the unions for filing a counter suit against the government after a court ruling that they (workers) should resume work. According to him, the Pension Act is a "bogus law" and so, wondered why government would want to take an oversight responsibility over the tier 2 contributions of workers in the country. Reacting to the action by the labour unions, Kwamena Duncan opined that the "court indeed will order government to give independent audit to deductions from January 2010 till today" and so, hoped the workers would once again go on strike to make their demands. We look forward to resuming the strike action," he stressed.
