We Are Ready To Support You: UFP To Nana Akufo-Addo

The leadership of the United Front Party (UFP), led by the Founder and National Chairman, Nana Agyenim Boateng, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, pledged their support for the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, ahead of the 2016 election. They made this known when they paid a courtesy call on Nana Akufo-Addo at his Nima residence to congratulate him on his victory in the October 18 presidential primary of the NPP. Flanked by members of the National Executive Committee of the party, Nana Agyenim Boateng explained to Nana Akufo-Addo that majority of the membership of the UFP trace their roots to the NPP, and are resolved to working to ensure that a government under the leadership Nana Akufo-Addo rescues the nation from the future of hopelessness Ghanaians are facing under the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government. If it gets to a point in time and you want us, as a party, to play a specific role for you, we are ready to play that role to win power in 2016. Your victory will be a victory for all of us (in Ghana). That is the message from the UFP to you, the UFP Chairman said. Mr. Osei Agyin, running mate to the 2012 flagbearer of the UFP, also congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo on his emphatic victory in the NPP primary, adding that it was a clear signal of intent by delegates of the NPP to wrestling power from the misrule of the NDC. Everyone in Ghana acknowledges the fact that you (Nana Akufo-Addo) are an outstanding and exemplary democrat, Mr. Osei Agyin added. Nana Akufo-Addo, in his brief remarks, thanked the leadership of the UFP for their congratulatory message and the hand of co-operation extended to him and the NPP. The NPP flagbearer stated that the battle to rid Ghana of the widespread corruption, rising cost of living, decline in the standard of living and the high levels of unemployment should be of utmost concern to us, as we seek to ensure the rapid transformation of the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian. Nana Akufo-Addo explained that Ghanaians are desperately crying for change, adding that we are the ones to bring about that change. Whatever we have to do to ensure that we are united to bring about the change Ghanaians want in 2016, we have to do it. He urged the leadership of the UFP to resolve whatever differences they may have ahead of election 2016. Present at the meeting were Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2016 vice presidential candidate of the NPP, and Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson, former Mayor of Accra and member of the NPPs National Council.
