Thousands of people took to the streets on Wednesday to demonstrate against the increasing rate of corruption as well as the bad economic policies of the ruling NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama. The demonstration was organized by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) and was dubbed �Aagbe Wo� demo; to wit �We are being killed�. The demonstrators clad mostly in red were carrying placards with various inscriptions like 'Mahama must go�, �Ghana is sinking, �China Parliament� and so on. The demonstration in general has been described as peaceful and successful. However, the Ghana Police Service has complained of AFAG not following the agreed roots. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno explained in an interview that the demonstrators deviated from the routes designated for them and that caused a great challenge to them. In an interview on Citi FM, AFAG rendered an unqualified apology to the Ghana Police Service, saying it was not intentional. He explained that there were five groups that took part in the protest and the first group - �when we got to Farisco traffic light, went straight ahead but that was not the agreed route. We were informed and immediately went forward to inform them to change the route.� �It was not deliberate� we are sorry about that� we apologized to the police (when it occurred) and they immediately accepted. The police were on top of issues and we appreciate it� again we are sorry about that,� said Dr Ayew Afriyie, Chairman of AFAG, added.
