Ghana Amputee Football Federation In Court

An executive member of Ghana Amputee Football Federation (GAFF), Mr Philip Cecil Richter, has filed a motion for interlocutory injunction against the Ghana Amputee Football Association. The injunction covers National Paraolympic Committee, restraining them not to interfere with amputee football in Ghana. The motion was filed on November 5, and Accra Fast Track High Court would hear the case on Wednesday, November 19. The motion seeks to restrain the defendants, their agents or any person acting for them from holding themselves as a body over seeing amputee football until the final determination of the suit. In his statement of claim, Mr Richter said since GAFF inception, it had been the only accredited, mandated and recognised body in Ghana handling amputee football in collaboration with the National Sports Authority. He said GAFF has at all material times represented Ghana at the tournaments of the Amputee Football World and referred to the 2007, 2010 and 2012 events. . He said the federation participated in the Cup of African Nations for Amputee football held in Accra, in 2011 under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as Amputee football Federation of African. The statement said the defendants purported to be representative of GAFF are going round soliciting funds and other sponsorship packages for the Black Challenge, the National Amputee Football Team, to participate in the 32nd Amputee World Cup to be held in Mexico from November 30 to December 8. The Plaintiff says all efforts and attempts to stop the defendants from their unlawful acts have not yielded any positive results, hence the need to restrained them through a court of law.
