Weve Learnt Our Lessons From Election 2012

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has served notice it is on high alert to prevent any rigging by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016. What happened in 2012 should not happen to us again and that is why we have to take those lessons into 2016, Vice Presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has said. The NPP dragged President Mahama and the Electoral Commission to court in a land mark election petition, challenging the outcome of the presidential results. The NPP however lost the eight-month long case. But addressing an NPP Fund Raising dinner in the United Kingdom, the Dr. Bawumia indicated that the Supreme Court petition has taught the party a lot of lessons and we are still learning those lessons. He was grateful that the events surrounding the 2012 general elections have given the party a pretty good idea about what happened in 2012 We are going to make sure that the lessons are taken to heart and taken to the battle field. What it has given us is a sense that we should never allow this to happen to us again, he added. According to him, the NPP will fight the 2016 election at the polling station on December 7, 2016 because according to him, it was at the polling station level that the NDC allegedly rigged the elections. There is work going on and there is work that has been going on. We are testing systems as we speak to make sure that what happened does not happen again, he insisted. Dr. Bawumia mentioned that the lessons learnt in 2012 have been fully internalized ahead of 2016 and it will reflect in 2016. He extended a hand of appreciation to the UK branch of the party for voting massively and supporting the candidature of Nana Akufo-Addo as the presidential candidate of the NPP. Nana Akufo-Addo is most thankful to the UK branch of this party for the support that you gave to him.
