Prof. Djangmah To Speak At The 8th ACP Conference, 2014

A retired Professor of the Department of Zoology at the University of Ghana, Prof. Jerome Siaw Djangmah will deliver the keynote address at the 8th African Confederation of Principals scheduled to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre, (AICC) on Monday, 15th December, 2014 at the Opening Ceremony. The four-day conference, under the theme �Educating the African Child, Walking The Policy Talk� will be held from 15th to 18th December, 2014. Representatives of Senior High Schools from Ghana and other English speaking African Countries including Lesotho, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda are attending the conference which has CHASS as the hosts. The eminent professor obtained his BSc. degree in Zoology from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Doctorate Degree from the University of Wales, UK. He retired as the professor and Head of the Department of Zoology in 1997. Prof. Djangmah, who started his working life as a teacher at Achimota School, also taught at the University of Cape Coast. He received a grant from the American National Science Foundation in Washington DC to be part of a group to be trained to teach with the new science books. After two decades at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Djangmah was appointed the Director � General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) from 1986 to 1988 during which he introduced and organized the first Science, Technology and Mathematics Education (STME) Clinic for Girls. While on retirement, Prof. Djangmah worked as a resident scholar on educational policies at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Chief Examiner in Biology at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) before being elected as its chairman from 2006 � 2009. He was made the Inaugural Chairman of the Council of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) 1998 � 2004 and he is currently assisting University of Ghana to set up a College of Education.
