Authorities at the Sogakofe Senior High School, have called on government and stakeholders to provide a fence to the school land as intruders have attempted to rape girls in their dormitory. The Headmaster of the school, Mr Kwame Tewiah Aggor said the situation demanded urgent attention by government since all efforts to fence the school proved futile. In an Interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), at the weekend, Mr Aggor said the Senior Girls Prefect was almost raped last week at dawn when she was visiting the �KVIP�. He said the school compound was opened and served as a passage for the neighbouring communities. The Headmaster said though the community members were not in favour of the fence wall, the District Assembly was also not helping to the fencing though they had the documentation on the demarcations of the land to allow the fencing. Mr Aggor said though the police, the Town Planning Committee, Land Commission, the Survey Department and the Assembly had been informed, officials were not ready and willing to help. �Students are losing their cloths on drying lines but we cannot hold anybody responsible because a number of people pass through the school. �Students are complaining of insecurity but the school authorities are handicapped since we cannot fence the school to give them the needed protection they deserve.� He added. The Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association Rev Ben-Newson Torkornoo also called on the District Assembly, stakeholders and the National Security to come together to wade off the intruders from the school. He asked the students not to panic while the authorities tried to resolve the challenge. The Assistant Girls Prefect of the school, Ms Mary Ansong, called for government�s support since the problem was chaotic especially during light out on campus. In another development, the school authorities also called on government to help complete the GETFUND girls� dormitory project since the girls� dormitory was currently overcrowded. The project which is about 95 per cent complete according to the Headmaster, had been neglected for the past three years.
