Man Poisons Neigbours 31 Goats

The only lesson a carpenter and driver decided to teach a Minister of God to be a good shepherd to her goats that had been straying into their well-tendered garden was to poison the animals to end the terror of the ruminants. Evangelist and livestock breeder, Juliana Akoto has accused Samuel Ampadu, a driver, and his friend, Kotoka, a carpenter, who reside at Taifa Junction, a suburb of Accra of allegedly poisoning 31 goats belonging to her. She is calling for the fast track of the case at the court to bring the perpetrators to book. Lamenting to the DAILY HERITAGE in an interview, Evangelist Akoto said on January 26, 2014, Samuel Ampadu, a neighbour, confronted her in her house warning that if she does not bar her goats from straying into his garden, he would poison them. Their reason, she added, was that the animals have been feeding on the food crops in the garden. The worriedlooking Minister added that to deter the goats, she smeared the plantain leaves and the other plants in the garden with goat faeces to put away the remnants. That, however, did not please Kotoka, a close pal to Samuel Ampadu who warned Mrs. Akoto to stop smearing the plants with goat faeces. She continued that later they decided to spray the plants to make it unattractive for the animals to feed on it, but unknowingly, it was poison aimed at killing my goats. On January 28, 2014, 31 of my goats started defecating blood whereupon I invited veterinary officers who ran tests on the animals and they confirmed that they had been poisoned. On February 4, she took the dead goats and reported the case to Mile 7 Police. But, the case is still in court pending ruling.
