Okay Fm Helps Family To Have Access To Seized Body Of Triplet's Mum @ Korle-Bu Morgue

The newly introduced segment on the Drive-Time of Okay Fms Ekwanso Dwoodwoo program called Masem Ni has lived up to its billing as it has helped a poor family in Bawjiase in the Central Region to rescue their deceased mother who gave birth to Triplets from the Morgue of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. According to the host of the program, Abeiku Santana, the Masem Ni program is designed to use a section of the Ekwanso Dwoodwoo platform to bring to the fore the plight and injustices of Ghanaians to the attention of civil society so they can offer support. Based on the program, Abeiku Santana said there was a need to raise over GH12,000 to help the family of late Helen who had incurred debt during her operations and medication at the Korle-Bu Hospital when she was in labor during delivery of the triplets. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Abeiku said upon assessment and investigation of the case presented by the late Helens family, he called on the good citizens of Ghana to help the family have access to the body of the mother of the triplets which had been deposited at the Morgue for 7 months as a result of their inability to pay the debt incurred during her treatment. We are inspired by the plight or challenges that people are going through and for me, one of my greatest passion is to help people who are suffering from injustices, abused, marginalized, those whose rights and liberties are trampled upon. We should be the mouthpiece for the dumb and vision for the blind..we have the platform that civil society groups listen; our systems are not working and so people have been abused and cheated all the time. We bring these social intervention issues to the fore for our benevolent citizens to help, he narrated. He however hinted that the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Hon Nana Oye Lithur has stepped into the case of the late Helen by instructing the Bawjiase District of the Ministry to take care of the triplets till they grow into adulthood. He further thanked the Deputy Minister of Central Region for the contribution towards the family of the deceased in the upkeep of the children and the burial ceremony. He again said that the program is not going to be a nine day wonder as it will be subjected to yearly review to explore new areas for highlighting social intervention cases. The Head of Public Relations at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Mustapha Salifu, on his part expressed appreciation to Okay Fm for coming up with such social intervention programs to help the vulnerable but quickly advised the public, especially the needy in society to take advantage of the National Health Insurance Scheme to free themselves from this kind of ordeal.
