British Airways Launches Pre-Order Meal Service

The option to pre-order meals on British Airways flights is now a reality for customers. From November 18 customers travelling in British Airways' First, Club World (business class) and World Traveller Plus (premium economy) cabins will be able to guarantee their first choice main course from the a-la-carte menu offered on board. Customers can simply select their meal from 30 days before their flight departs, right up to 24 hours prior to take-off through the manage my booking tool on ba.com. The pre-order service will initially be available on flights between Heathrow and Las Vegas, Phoenix, Rio de Janeiro, Vancouver, Dallas and Seattle, with more routes to be added in early 2015. Lynn McClelland, British Airways head of catering, said: "We want to provide a really personalised service to our customers and weve been investing heavily in making that happen. Food choices are very personal, and our customers consistently tell us they want choice and control. This new option to pre-order meals offers this personalised service and gives control back to the customer. We have also given our cabin crew iPads that enable them to access information given to us by our customers about their preferences so theyre able to deliver a more bespoke service. This new option to select a meal before-hand is part of that programme of tailoring our service to each individual. British Airways is investing more than 5bn in new aircraft, smarter cabins, elegant lounges, and new technologies to make life more comfortable in the air and on the ground.
