Where Was The FC When Police Fended Off Achimota Forest Landguards?

Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno has stated categorically that the owner of the Achimota Forest does not matter to the Police as his outfit's only interest is to carry out the orders of IGP and National Security to protect government land. According to him, the Police do not know anybody from the Forestry Commission that wants to fence the land since for the past three (3) months the Police have been fighting the land guards sent by the Osu Chiefs without any support from the Forestry Commission. He insisted he has orders to carry out and that is to ensure no one, without any exception, encroaches on the property. In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese , the host of Okay Fms Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, DCOP Tetteh Yohuno said he had a specific order from his boss, the IGP that says nobody should enter the land and that is the order they are to follow to the latter with fear or favor from anybody. He maintained that he could not trust the work of the Forestry Commission on the land by fencing it since the Police have seen any representative of the Commission on the land in the 3 months commotion with the Osu Chiefs. To him, Policemen on duty considered the activities of the FC on the land as contrary to the instruction given them because the Commission refused to seek clearance from the National Security on whose authority the Policemen were acting. He however was amazed at the Forestry Commission that it failed to bring the media to the land when the private developer had degraded over 300 to 400 acres of the forest but turn around to attack the Police with the media after his men have fought the land guards to regain the fallow nature of the forest. It is amazing to hear that from the Forestry people; at that time that the OSU people brought a lot of land guards to take over the land, where was the Forestry Commission? Why didn't they react at that time? Why didn't they bring people to come and see the land when it was graded? He quizzed. Now that the land has become bushy and you cannot see that anything has happened on the land before, they want to rise against the Policewhen the Forestry people came, we said fine, go to National Security and get clearance and then we will protect you to fence the land but they refused...I want to put it clear that we are not there to support any Osu or private developer but we are there for National interest, to protect the land which the Parliamentary Select Committee has gone there to assesswhether the land belongs to Achimota School or anybody, I dont care; I am there to protect the land from encroachers, for the interest of the nation, he declared.
