110 Aspirants Pick Forms To Contest NDC National Positions

One hundred and ten aspirants, contesting various national positions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have picked their nominations forms to contest the election. The filing of nominations for the national congress of the party scheduled for December 13, 2014 is expected to close today. In all, 24 positions are being contested at the national level. They are the national chairperson, six national vice chairpersons,general secretary and his two deputies, and national organiser and his two deputies. Others are propaganda secretary and his two deputies; women organiser and her two deputies; youth organiser and his two deputies and treasurer and his deputy. All the four aspirants who have publicly declared their intention to contest the national chairmanship position of the party picked their nominations forms when nominations opened late last week. They are the incumbent National Chairman who is seeking re-election, Dr Kwabena Adjei; Mr Dan Abodakpi, a former Minister and ambassador to Malaysia; Mr Kofi Porturphy, National Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, a former Trade Minister and General Secretary of the party. Agents of Mr Abodakpi told the Daily Graphic that Mr Abodakpi was expected to file his nominations yesterday (Tuesday), a day before nominations close today, November 26. The line-up of the aspirants seeking the highly contested Vice Chairmanship position include Mrs Betty Mould Iddisu, Mr Lee Ocran; Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Mr Harry Zakour; Oheneba Asamoah Atuahene; Alhaji Said Sinare; Mr Anthony Gyampo; Mr Max Cobbina; and Rev. Professor Richard Lartey Larson. The incumbent General Secretary may go unopposed as no names have popped up contesting that position, but the deputy positions are being hotly contested by the incumbent Mr George Lawson who is seeking re-election and Kwaku Anyidoho, a former Presidential Staffer. The National Organiser position has the incumbent Mr Yaw Gyan Boateng facing stiff competition from Kofi Adams and the Member of Parliament for Afram Plains, Mr Emmanuel Boateng Dedieye Those contesting the Youth Organiser are the incumbent Ludwig Hlodze who is seeking re-election, Prince Kasim, Sidi Abubakar Musah, Abubakar Mutui Rahaman, William Wilson Agbleke and Prince Morti.
