The sexual escapades of a 20-year-old Europe-based Ghanaian footballer, who allegedly uploads sex videos of his female partners on his laptop computer in the Sekondi area of the Western Region, came to an end last Friday when he was arrested and jailed. The accused person, Geraldinho Kofi Laryea, used the web camera of his laptop to record the sex acts with his unsuspecting girlfriends. Explicit photographs and video recordings of different women with the convict in twisty sexual orgies were retrieved on the laptop after he was busted. The footballer was last Friday arraigned before a Takoradi circuit court where he pleaded guilty to the charges of defilement and possession of obscene pictures. The court, presided over by Mrs Rita Abena Doku, then sentenced the accused person to 10 years� imprisonment in hard labour on his own plea. Reading the facts of the case to the court, Chief Inspector Fuseini Yakubu indicated that the complainant is a trader and mother of a 16-year-old victim of the sex escapades. He disclosed that the convict is a 20-year-old footballer who lives with his mother at the nurses� quarters at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi. The prosecutor told the court that somewhere in June 2013, the convict met the 16-year-old victim at Kweikuma near Sekondi and proposed love to her. Geraldinho Kofi Laryea then took the phone number of the victim and started communicating with her. He told the victim that he was a footballer based in Europe and had come down to Ghana for some holidays. According to the prosecutor, somewhere in November and December 2013, the convict invited the victim to his room and had sexual intercourse with her. Unknown to her, the accused used the web camera of his laptop to take pictures and also filmed the sexual act. The prosecutor said in March 2014, the accused went to the victim�s house and showed her the nude pictures and video and threatened the girl that he would post the pictures and the video on the internet if she did not visit him again. The victim therefore went to Laryea�s house again and the footballer had sex with her. On November 3, 2014, when the victim could not bear the incessant sexual demands of the convict, she informed her brother about it. Later the brother contacted Laryea and asked the footballer to send him some of the obscene pictures on phone, which the footballer acquiesced in. Subsequently, a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested. A search conducted in the footballer�s room revealed a projector, flash drive and an HP laptop. The rest were MTN and Tigo scratch cards valued at GH�700 and modems. A further probing into the laptop also revealed a number of obscene pictures and films of the accused and other women he had had sex with, including the 16-year-old girl. Chief Inspector Yakubu Fuseini indicated that the accused person admitted to committing the offences in his caution statement to the police. After investigations he was charged and arraigned before court. The judge, before passing the sentence, stated that the act by the accused person was reprehensible and that since he did not do the act once and even threatened the minor that he would post their sexual escapades on the internet showed how wicked the convict was. �Society must not countenance such behaviour and his sentence will serve as a deterrent to others who might behave in like manner,� the judge indicated and slapped Laryea with the sentence.
