Some 583 delegates and more than 150 other observers will converge on the Wa Senior High Technical School in the Upper West Region, as women of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) elect their national women's organiser and her two deputies tomorrow.
The occasion may be graced by Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur who is expected in town for tomorrow's congress in Wa.
The incumbent, Anita de Sosoo, who is vying for the party's vice chairperson, will be handing over to a new person as the trio of Hajia Zanab Mahama from Northern Region, Miriam Sinare of Greater Accra and Margaret Chiravira of Upper East contest to succeed her.
The mantle bearer will be assisted by two deputies who will be elected from a list of 10 contestants who are Dr Catherine Deynu from Volta, Ama Sarpomaa from Ashanti, Hajia Fatimata Seidu from Upper East, Hajia Fati Usman from Greater Accra and Ernestina Owusu Frimpong from Central.
The rest are Betty Bosomtwi-Sam, Stella Adu Obeng, Prisilla Mercy Nketia Akromah, Madam Cecilia Akueter and Francisca Adu Yeboah.
Hajia Salmat Cecilia Hamza, the NDC women's organiser for the Upper West Region, said she felt proud to be hosting the rest of the nation in a major delegates' event of the NDC.
She expressed greater joy at the level of preparations for the hundreds of guests, saying it was an opportunity to expose the quality in personnel, culture and every other possible way of the people of Upper West to the rest of the country.
She expressed the hope that the event would turn out very successful to complement the efforts put in towards its organisation.
With accommodation in particular arranged in advance for travelling delegates, Wa seems already set to host an event described as a precursor to the ultimate national delegates' conference of the NDC slated for Kumasi later this month.
Indeed, the Upper West may not have a candidate in the reckoning for any of the three positions on offer, but it has become the arena for lobbying and campaigning for positions that have become as attractive as any other national executive seat.
