A 42-year-old man is being held by the Odorkor Police for allegedly using forged vehicle documents and bank statements to secure a loan from Midland Savings and Loan Limited. The suspect, Emmanuel Amoako Atta, is said to have introduced himself as a businessman to the financial institution and requested for a loan facility of GH�20,000. The Odorkor District Police Commander, Superintendent Abraham Acquaye, said on May 30, 2013, the suspect, who had applied for a loan from Midland, was asked to provide collateral and bank statements as security to enable him to meet the loan requirement. Document Amoako Atta then submitted documents covering a Kia Sorrento S-Wagon, with registration number GS 5962-10, and a statement of account from First National Savings and Loans Limited. Mr Acquaye said Amoako Atta also effected change of ownership of the vehicle to Midland Savings and Loans, after which the GH�20,000 was granted to him. �The savings and loan company wrote to the DVLA Office and the First National Savings and Loans Ltd at Asylum Down, only to be told that all the documents submitted by Amoako Atta were fake,� he said. Mr Acquaye said a recovery officer of Midland lodged a complaint with the Odorkor Police, noting that investigations into the matter revealed that the accused had sold the vehicle in question and gone undercover. �All efforts made to trace the accused person proved futile, until December 6, 2014 when he was spotted at Mallam in Accra, was arrested and handed over to the police,� he added.
