Adebayor Returns To Ghana For 'Personal Reasons'

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has confirm that striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons. The club's Twitter feed says: "We can confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons," read a statement from Tottenham. "This is a private matter and so we will not be providing any further comment." Adebayor has endured a turbulent season so far. The 30-year-old was recently involved in a bizarre row surrounding 'juju' - a form of witchcraft - during which his mother was accused of placing a curse on him, but his brother later claimed that spiritual healers had "brainwashed" Adebayor. The Togo international has yet to feature for Spurs since returning from international duty in November and has not been named in the matchday squad for any of the north London club's last six games. He has scored just two goals in 12 Premier League and Europa League games, but his most notable moments have been off the pitch. Tottenhams next match is the encounter with Swansea City on Sunday but it appears they will have to do without a player who is now reportedly on his way back to his adopted home, Ghana.
