KMA Building For Sale

The Kumasi Metropolitan (KMA) office at Adum in Kumasi is to be offered for sale anytime soon to any prospective buyer. Hon Abraham Boadi, Assemblyman for Nhyiaeso, said Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi mayor, announced the sale during a KMA executive meeting on Tuesday. He said Kojo Bonsu disclosed that monies accrued from the sale of the building would be used to build ultra-modern office for the KMA. According to him, assemblymen like himself strongly kicked against the sale of the edifice during the meeting. The aggrieved assemblyman said the matter was put into voting where Kojo Bonsu won by 14 to 10 votes. Abraham Boadi, nicknamed Opooman, said the matter would be brought before the KMA General Assembly Committee soon. Opooman added that irrespective of the results of elections, he would still kick against the sale of the office which had been in existence for decades. Speaking on Kessben FM on Tuesday evening, he chastised the assemblymen who voted in favour of the sale of the KMA building. According to him, any person who has the development of Kumasi at heart would not support the idea of selling the KMA building. Opooman noted that Kojo Bonsu could not state how much the new office would cost when he addressed the executive committee.
