Ogbamey: There Is No Imbroglio Over GNPC Take-Over Of Ghana Gas...

The Communication Manager of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas),Alfred Ogbamey has sought to dispel any controversies surrounding the transfer of ownership of Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). Speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", the Ghana Gas Communication Manager consensus will be reached over the transfer saga. Prior to this interview, the Board of Ghana Gas released a statement stressing that the Transaction Advisor appointed by the Ministry of Finance and the company had not had any single meeting to thrash out the issue. The statement signed by Dr. Kwesi Botchwey (Board Chairman of the company) further said that the "Board of Ghana Gas has as of today not passed any resolution nor has the Board filed the necessary papers to effect the change in ownership." Following this statement, some political figures have raised red flags and expressed suspicion over the deal. But according to Alfred Ogbamey, though Ghana Gas has the expertise and competence in the Gas Processing business in the nation, the transfer does not call for alarm. No other organization beside Ghana Gas has expertise in both the construction and the management process as of now because theres no other mainstream company as of now. And it is the only that has done what has been done in Ghana Gas but a fusion of the two bodies like Ive said is a decision that the shareholder can make at any point in time. I think the decision policy making body; thats the Ministry of government as well as the Board may have to liaise and fashion out the way forwardI think that the policy makers will eventually get over it," he stated.
