Suhum Police To Arrest Lover For Attempted Murder

The police have intensified the search for the arrest of a 36- year old spinner, Kwadwo Dekenu, who attempted to murder his girl friend at Kokoteasua near Suhum in the Eastern Region. Speaking to Ghana News Agency Mr Yaw Mensah elder brother of the victim, 25 year- old hairdressing apprentice, Lydia Kondo at Kokoteasua, said the suspect visits the girl at midnight when his parents are asleep. He said, later, when his father got to know of the relationship he warned the daughter to stop the relationship. He said this developed into a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect and his sister decided to end the relationship. He said, on December 8, the suspect lodged a complaint with one of the elders in the village against the victim and Lydia was invited by the elder but on her way, the suspect who had laid ambush attacked her and inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on her. The suspect, thinking that the victim was dead, dumped the body in a valley, took a mobile phone and rang one of the brothers of the victim at Klo-Agogo about the act. He said, some people on their way to farm spotted the victim in the valley and raised the alarm and she was rescued and rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital where she is on admission and a report was made to the police. When the police at Suhum was contacted, they confirmed the story and said they are investigating the issue for the arrest of the suspect.
