Ghanaians have been asked to extend their benevolence to the poor and needy within their communities as they prepare for the Christmas festivities. Preaching a sermon at an end of year carol service, organised by the management and employees of Chirano Gold Mines at the weekend, Reverend Michael Awuah Frimpong, who is in-charge of the Akoti Presbyterian Church, said the birth of Christ had a lot of significance for all mankind and appealed to all to value it. He said God created all mankind special for a purpose and every effort should be made to safeguard this divine gift for the good of society. Rev. Frimpong commended employees and management of the mining company for continually including God in their busy activities and reminded them that without God, the birth will be meaningless to many. He reminded Ghanaians to extend their goodwill to each other, especially the less privileged in the society, and not forget about the importance of the season. �We cannot pretend that everyone is fine when we can offer a helping hand to the poor and marginalised in our respective communities,� Reverend Frimpong said. Mr. Thomas Nyarko-Danquah, Community Relations Manager, Chirano Gold Mines, thanked employees for attending the carol service. He said management was pleased with their participation and will continue to support its annual organisation. He also suggested that, the service which was interspersed with songs, drama and dancing, be held quarterly to bring many people closer to God and for fellowship.
