The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress has said the circumstances surrounding the exit of former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings from the party makes it difficult to make attempts at bringing her back. Her husband, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings in an address to delegates at the ruling party's 8th Congress at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi subtly appealed to his wife to consider coming back to the party. �Let us invite our mother Nana Konadu to come back home," he said. "I hope she can hear us, I hope she can see us.� Mrs. Rawlings left the NDC to join the formation of the National Democratic Party after her failed attempt to dislodge the late President John Mills in an epic midterm Presidential primaries in 2011. Speaking on Asempa FM, Tuesday, �General Mosquito� as he is popularly called, said the former first lady left the party on her own accord and must take the initiative to return if she wishes. �It is difficult for the executive body to make attempts at bringing her back because she left on her own. �If we offended her before her exit, then there will be the basis to make overtures towards her but as things stand now, it�s difficult because I don�t know why she left and how to make efforts at bringing her back,� he stated. Meanwhile, Konadu has said she is never returning to the party her husband founded. �I worked to build [NDC]. But even when you build a house, you build the house because you want to live in it...and you find that robbers have taken over your house and the house has been desecrated in some way and you have the chance to move to a smaller house somewhere, if you are not staying there, then that's your problem,� she told TV3.
