Chiefs of Ekumfi Suprudu Threaten To Stage Massive Domonstration Against Govt

The Chiefs and people of Suprodu in the Ekumfi Constituency of the Central Region have threatened to vent their anger on the Mahama government for failing to fulfill its promise of constructing the only road linking the town to other communities in the area. Making this known during this years Ayiriye Festival, Thomas Yawson, the secretary to the Suprodu Development Committee stated that the people of the town would have no option that to resort to a massive demonstration against the government if nothing is done to alleviate their plight. He also touched on the dangers posed by the only stream in the area anytime it over flows. we have always called on government to build a bridge on this stream for us because of the fact that little children drown anytime it rains heavily but this request has always been met with one promise or another which never materialize We will advise ourselves during elections if nothing is done about our road and bridge Mr. Yawson fumed. However, Hon. George Kuntu Blankson, the former Member of Parliament (MP) of Ekumfi, who happened to be the Special Guest of Honour at the festival, reassured the people of Suprudu that the bridge will be constructed soon. According to him, plans are far advanced for the construction of the bridge because during my tenure we signed a deal with a Danish company which will bring in parts of the prefabricated bridge from Denmark. This is on the heart of government and I can assure you all that by the second quarter of this year, construction will begin. On issues about your road, I will talk to the sitting MP and the DCE of Ekumfi to see how we can work to bring comfort to you, he said. Hon. Kuntu Balnkson further thanked the Chiefs and people of Suprudu for their understanding and wished them well in the coming year.
