Local government minister Hon. Julius Debrah has bemoaned Ghanaians �lackadaisical� attitude towards the National Sanitation Day programme. According to him, a model by-law will be enacted by February to have those who have decided to stay away from the exercise prosecuted. �Filth kills, government cannot do everything�it should be everybody's duty to clean the environment and so if some people have intentionally decided to stay away, government will force them to clean, he explained. Speaking to Hello FM's reporter, Isaac Owusu, he indicated however, that he was impressed by the participation of the security agencies, adding: if only the rest of the citizens will follow their footsteps, �our environment will be clean� �This clean up exercise has come to stay�it is a way of getting rid of filth in our environment�the National sanitation exercise will soon be extended to other regions� he added. Today's exercise which was held in the Ashanti Region, saw the Ashanti Regional minister, Hon.Dr Samuel Sarpong, Hon. Kwadwo Bonsu, Mayor of Kumasi, the Royal occupant of the Golden stool, Otumfour Osei tutu II, Robert Coleman, PRO of Zoomlion Ghana limited, the Local government Minister, Hon.Julius Debrah and others participating.
