The Korea Fund for the Hungry, International, has donated assorted clothing and beddings to the Bongo Traditional Council in the Upper East Region. The items, including dresses, blankets and sandals, are to be distributed to deprived women and children in the area. The donation was facilitated by a Korean Missionary, Pastor Goo Sung Hea , and his wife, who are working in the area. The couple, who have been working in the area for close to six years, now consider themselves as citizens of Bongo, and have adopted the Bongo Traditional Palace as their traditional home. Receiving the items, the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional area, Naba Baba Salifu Aleemyarum , commended the Missionary and the donors, and gave the assurance that the items would be distributed to the deprived in all the 27 divisional and sub divisional areas of the Traditional Council . He said apart from the donation, the Missionary had built a day nursery at Boko, one of the communities, and a library for schools in the area. The Paramount Chief said additionally, the couple had provided water facilities to seven communities, while plans were far advanced to expand the water facilities to five more communities. �We are also very grateful that they provided food, school uniforms, books and other teaching and learning materials to deprived school children in our area,� the Paramount Chief said. Naba Aleemyarum who also lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Finance, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and the Ghana Revenue Authority for exempting the Traditional Council from tax payments to enable it clear its goods from the harbour, and appealed to other Non-Governmental Organizations and individuals to go to the aid of the area. The Paramount Queen Mother of the Bongo Traditional area, Madam Christiana Asindikye Ngee, said the items would help support deprived women and children and expressed optimism that the relationship would grow.
