Most Ghanaian Women Use Rape Cases To Blackmail Men - Lawyer

A Kumasi-based legal practitioner,Lawyer Marshal Baileb has expressed worry at the manner in which women are using rape cases to blackmail men. Speaking in an interview with Okay FMs Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, lawyer Baileb was of the view that due to the fact that rape cases are unbailable, some women use it to unduly punish men. ..women are using rape cases to blackmail men because of the fact that it is an unbailable offense. The same goes for defilement cases, he said. He made this statement when asked about the rape charge slapped on veteran broadcaster, Kwesi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as KKD. Though Lawyer Baileb stated the fact that he is not abreast with that particular case, he was of the view that the way and manner the law on rape has been structured makes is easier for women to make unfounded allegations against men. Most often than not, rape allegations made against men are not true. They make these cases after a misunderstanding that is even not related to sex. This is so because they are aware men would be detained and therefore use it to blackmail them, especially, famous men, he maintained.
