Afotey-Agbo Wants Dodowa Police Commander Transferred

The Greater Accra Regional (GAR) Minister Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo has promised to impress on the powers that be to immediately transfer Superintendent Kwesi Fori, Dodowa District Police Commander, from the region. He accused the Dodowa Police Commander of allegedly backing the activities of landguards at Appollonia in the Kpone-Katamanso District. Superintendent Kwesi Fori is creating fierce tension and unrest at Appollonia, and as the Regional Minister, I will not rest until I see his immediate transfer," he said. Mr Afotey-Agbo said this when he met the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs at Dodowa, to present his Christmas presents to them. He alleged that landguards have already sold about 2,000 acres of land in the area. Mr Afotey-Agbo alleged that Superintendent Kwesi Fori was supporting some landguards to sell stool lands at Appollonia and also question the legitimacy of the Appollonia chief, Nii Nuertey Amobi II. "Who is Kwesi Fori to challenge the legitimacy of the Appollonia Chief, who has been gazetted by the National House of Chiefs? If he does not know, Appollonia has a legitimate chief and that chief has oversight responsibility over all stool lands under his jurisdiction. "If you, a police commander, have no vital information on the chiefs of your area and you don't go to the rightful place to get the needed information to know which of your chiefs are gazetted, then you are not on top of your job. Who is Kwesi Fori to slap a ban on a gazetted chief?" he asked. Mr Afotey-Agbo said Superintendent Kwesi Fori has a bad relationship with the chiefs and people of the district and so his immediate transfer from the area would cool tensions at Appollonia and the entire Shai-Osudoku District. The house loudly applauded the Minister's call for the transfer of Superintendent Kwesi Fori and unanimously pledged their support to help him flush out all landguards from the GAR.
