Miss Universe Ghana Promises To Beat The Competition With Her Natural Hair At Finals

Miss Universe Ghana 2014, Abena Akuaba Appiah, left the shores of Ghana on Friday for the United States to begin preparation towards the upcoming Miss Universe finale at Miami, Florida on January 25. She was accompanied to the airport by her mum and sister, as well as the organisers of the Miss Universe Ghana. Speaking to the press, Abena said she was excited about the world finals, and she is going to make Ghana proud no matter the outcome. �I am nervous and excited at the same time. I�m going to try my best at the finals; I leave everything to God. I also want my fellow Ghanaians to vote for me because moving from the final 88 to the next stage depends on the public vote. So if Ghanaians vote for me then maybe I can make top 10.� She highlighted her strengths in the competition to include her many talents and her natural hair. She said, �Basically I am multi-talented and I am going as a natural hair contestants. That�s the first time in the history of Ghanaian pageantry, so I hope that is going to give me an advantage. I also sing, write music and play the guitar, so I hope that will give me an advantage as well.� She is clearly aware she would need more than just her natural hair to win Miss Universe and according to her she has already been reading on her competitors. She cited Miss Dominican Republic, Lebanon and Nigeria as her keen competition. �I have seen many of the contestants from the other countries and they are all amazing. Everybody is coming up with something but I believe that what I am going there with is also unique. I am going there with my African prints. I got my local designer to create a lot of amazing styles for me and I hope they like it�. Miss Universe 2014 will be the 63rd Miss Universe pageant will hold at the FIU Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Miami, Florida, USA. 88 contestants from all over the world including Ghana�s Abena Appiah will compete for the crown. The current Miss Universe with the crown is still Gabriela Isler of Venezuela. About Abena Akuba Appiah Abena Appiah is fashion student at the Radford University in Ghana. She received her high school education in the United States and completed her degree in Ghana. She is a determined and fun-loving woman. Abena won Miss Talent Ghana in 2012 and won Top Model Ghana in 2013, she also represented Ghana in the Top Model Of The World pageant held in Egypt. Abena is an entertainer and loves to be entertained. She has been modeling since age 3 and discovered her music abilities at the age of 9. She sings, models, acts, and writes her own music. She plays the guitar, recorder and the clarinet. She has released five singles and is working on her first album to be released in 2015. �Strive hard to achieve your goals no matter the circumstances,� that�s her philosophy. With the revenue from the release of her first album, Abena plans to create opportunities for young Ghanaian women and girls through a talent management school she plans to open in Ghana.
