Weija Robbery Suspect Arrested

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting of a police officer at Weija in Accra. The suspect, Isaac Boadi, was among a gang of robbers who exchanged fire with the police resulting in the death of Corporal Prince Akata last Tuesday. Isaac Boadi, also known as KK, was picked up at Kwashie near Asamankese in the Eastern Region. According to the Eastern Regional Police Command, ACP James Azumah Abass, the Akyem-Oda Police Station had information that a man with gun wounds in the genitals was receiving treatment at a herbal centre at Kwashie near Asamankese. He said, information gathered by the police indicated that the suspect was also stealing cocoa and selling to the Produce Buying Company (PBC) to defray the cost of his treatment at the herbal centre. He added that, after mounting surveillance on the suspect, he was arrested on Thursday evening and upon his arrest, confessing to being part of the robbery that took place at Weija. ACP Azumah Abass said the suspect was currently receiving treatment at the Akyem-Oda Government Hospital after which he would be transferred to the Police Headquarters for further investigations to be carried on.
