Out of the twenty five million people in Ghana, majority are potential beneficiaries of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) scheme and for this reason, management of the scheme have decided to add a voice to tidying our environment. Ms Evangeline Amegashie, the head of Coporate Affairs at SNNIT, led a delegation to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to donate sanitary items as the nation prepares for the next sanitation day exercise. In an interaction with Hon. Julius Debrah, who is the minister in charge of the ministry, Ms Evangeline Amegashie noted that SSNIT was concerned about the health of Ghanaians and this motivated them to donate the items. The items which cost GHC 43,120 consisted of: 220 wheelbarrows 220 hand gloves 220 long brooms 220 rakes 220 shovels On behalf of the ministry, Hon. Julius Debrah, congratulated SSNIT for the role they have played towards keeping Ghana clean. Despite being happy, he urged Ghanaians to see the national sanitation day exercise as a funfair but rather, to come to a realization that living in an insanitary condition, could explode into an epidemic. He used the occasion to announce that the sanitation day exercise is here to stay
