The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Tema New Town has apprehended a 17-year-old labourer at the Tema Fishing Harbour for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl. Collins Adjei, a resident of Abonkor, a suburb of Tema New Town, was said to have lured the victim, who was sent by her guardian, and forcibly had sexual intercourse with the primary five pupil. Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE was that on December 17, 2014 at about 8pm, the guardian of the victim sent her with an amount of GH�90 to buy spaghetti. Whilst on this errand, the suspect allegedly lured the victim into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her before collecting the money she had been given to buy spaghetti. On the someday at about 10 pm, the guardian went in search of the victim when she failed to return home, but all her efforts yielded no results. The father of the victim later went to the suspect�s house and found the victim and the suspect naked in bed and fast asleep. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and handed over to the police after a complaint was made to the police. A police medical report issued to the victim to go to the hospital for treatment and examination confirmed that she had indeed been defiled. The suspect was detained after his caution statement was taken, having admitted the offence in the statement.
