Most Rev. Dr. Robert Kwasi Aboagye-Mensah Receives African Humanitarian Integrity Award

The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, the Most Rev. Dr. Robert Kwasi Aboagye-Mensah has received the prestigious African Humanitarian Integrity Award for his exemplary leadership, initiative and commitment in promoting Human dignity and sustainable livelihood in Africa. The Research Fellow at the School of Divinity, University of Yale and Senior Member of African Theologian Fellowship (ATF) has been leading change for hurting children and families in the most disadvantaged communities in Africa; advocating for support voiceless and mobilizing resources directed at programmes and projects that have lasting positive impact on children whose lives are affected by extreme poverty, low level of education and inadequate healthcare. The Award was presented to him at the just ended fifth edition of the African Humanitarian Fundraiser, Total Emancipation 2014-United Against Child Poverty on Saturday 20th December, 2014 at the World Trade Centre, Accra and was under the theme; The Effects of Child Poverty on the Socio-Economic Development of the African Continent. The International Secretariat of African Rights Initiative International Relief and Development Organization instituted the African Humanitarian Integrity Award which was launched at the British Council Hall, Accra-Ghana in honour of one of its outstanding members, Mr. James Ntim Amponsah, Deputy Controller and Accountant General ( Treasuries ) Republic of Ghana/ an International humanitarian and Change Agent who for many years has been leading change from behind for many hurting children and families in Ghana and beyond. The vision of the Award is to encourage grassroots mobilization of resource to achieve local, national, continental and global development target. The continental excellent award upholds distinctive servant-leadership and promotes individual and group/corporate initiatives in promoting human dignity and sustainable livelihood in Africa and beyond. The award scheme was founded on the belief that �our common humanity is much better than our individual and interesting needs�. Most Rev. Speaking on the Award the Chairman of Atlantic Trust Holding and Atlantic Holdings of Dubai who is also the Chairman of African Rights Initiative International, Mr. Alex Asiedu said each year, his organization combs Ghana and Africa for selfless individuals and institutions who serve Africa, especially, the most vulnerable groups with honest intent and effective, self-initiated and sustainable programmes and funding that involve communities and wider society. African Rights Initiative International is an International Relief and Development Organization responsible for promoting human dignity and sustainable livelihood in Africa and beyond. They work to ensure that every child has access to emergency healthcare, education, and life essentials that make the quality of life. The event was also used to raise support for the Family Village Project, a model multi-purpose projects providing educational, health and protection for destitute children in Africa.
