Police React To Chronicle�s Story

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has condemned the publication by The Chronicle on Monday January 12, 2015, with the banner headline, �Bloody War lurks @ Kintampo�Fulani herdsmen prepare reprisal attacks, over killing of hundreds of cattle.� According to the Regional Police Command, there is no threat of Fulani herdsmen planning to attack the communities in the Kintampo Municipality. The Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Christopher Tawiah, reacting to the story, said the people within communities in the Kintampo Municipality are living freely without any threat of attack. According to the PRO, Fulani herdsmen have not armed themselves ready to retaliate over an alleged attacked on hundreds of cattle, as reported by The Chronicle. The police explained that the said attack cattle did not happen in the Kintampo Municipality, but rather at Ejura in the Ashanti Region, and was over a month ago. He said two suspects had already been arrested in connection with the incident. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police is, therefore calling on the public to ignore such reportage, since the police were doing all it could to maintain law and order in the vicinity. On the incident where The Chronicle reported a �White man �was reportedly killed, the Regional Police Command explained that the issue was purely one of robbery, and that they were hunting for the culprits. The police emphasised that there was no bloody war lurking at Kintampo, and assured the people of maximum protection.
