Police Service Doesnt Need Madmen In Uniform Lawyer

A private legal practitioner whose car tyre was shot at by a Police bodyguard of Accra Mayor Alfred Vanderpuije has said the Ghana Police Service does not need mad men in uniform. Nii Akwei Bruce Thompson insisted that the Police bodyguard need not have acted like a madman. He has vowed to campaign for the dismissal of the Mayors bodyguard from the Police Service. The Lawyer, who was trailing the Mayors convoy to frontally confront him for abusing the siren in traffic ended up having the tyre of his Pontiac Vibe deflated with a bullet at James Town by the Mayors bodyguard. According to the Lawyer, the Mayor watched aloof as his bodyguard molested him. The law should prevail in this country. A policeman cannot act like a madmanI think that justice must be served, we cannot have madmen in police uniforms. He [the bodyguard] doesnt deserve the police uniform, Bruce Thompson said. He told Joy News Francis Abban in an interview that: Police must resort to the use of arms when necessary to save life, he cautioned. Shoot-to-kill is even discouraged as police personnel are rather advised to shoot the legs of armed robbers trying to escape. He said he will press on until he gets justice against the Ghana Police Service and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. Reports say the Police Officer has been invited by the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Bureau, PIPS, following an order by the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter.
