Goat, Guinea Fowl Send Man To Grave

A 47-year-old driver was stabbed to death during a scuffle over a stolen goat and a guinea fowl at Adenta Sakora, near Accra. The deceased, Jonas Afianu, is said to have tried to broker peace between the disagreeing parties but he got stabbed in the right hand in the process. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue, while the police hunt for the suspect, Destiny Manyo Agbeku, who is currently on the run. What happened Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Adenta District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Felix Apedo, said the incident happened at a mechanic shop, Kingdom Motor Yard, about 11:40 a.m. last Monday. The yard has been encroached by squatters and the deceased lived in a wooden structure in the yard, along with the suspect and others. He said before the Christmas festivities, a man identified as Samuel Addae accused the suspect and his friend, whose name was not readily available, of stealing his goat. A confrontation over the issue, he said, resulted in a heated augment, after which Addae travelled to his home town for the festivities. �But when Addae returned from the Christmas holidays, he decided to confront the suspect and his friend over the missing goat, which resulted in a fight, and the suspect seized Addae�s guinea fowl,� he said. Addae was said to have informed his brother about the seized guinea fowl and his brother went with him to retrieve the guinea fowl and demand the whereabouts of the goat. However, the encounter resulted in another fight and, in the course of the scuffle, the suspect pulled a knife and threatened to stab Addae and his brother. Afianu and some residents present in the yard were said to have managed to disarm the suspect. Notwithstanding the intervention, Mr Apedo said, the suspect rushed into his room and returned with a broken bottle. �The suspect turned his aggression on Afianu, since Addae and his brother had left, and stabbed Afianu in the right arm above his elbow. Some of the residents rushed Afianu to the nearest clinic but he was pronounced dead on arrival,� he said.
