Lydia Adzorsu, 16, has appealed to philanthropists to help her pay for the cost of surgery on her fingers, in order to enable her live a normal life and to go back to school.
She says it is not possible for her to manipulate or use her left fingers and to undertake any task with them due to her medical condition, and this made her drop out of school about three years ago.
Lydia revealed this to Ghana News Agency in an interview at Kudeha in the Ga South Municipality.
She said she developed the condition, when she was eight years old while serving as a maid to a Nigerian woman.
She alleged that the woman held her left hand and placed it on top of a hot lantern to force her to admit that she stole her money.
An x-ray scan taken at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has identified an abnormality in all her five fingers.
She said: "Am to pay GH₵ 500 before my hand could be operated upon,� she said, adding: � I am ready to go back to school if this condition can be corrected for me. Though I don't feel pains in the fingers, I can't use the hand for anything.�
Lydia Adzorku dropped out of primary six at Odumprala M/A Basic School and has since been helping her parents in domestic activities.
