One major name that can never be ruled out when we talk about pioneers in the Ghanaian music industry specifically the music production fraternity is music producer Zap Mallet. He disclosed in an interview over the weekend the reason beat makers are not good sound engineers hence the inflow of poor sounds of songs in our music industry nowadays. He gave these explanations when he was interviewed on Pluzz 89.9FM's morning show AM Pluzz hosted by Sammy Flex. �Though beat making in Ghana currently is okay, at least with the talent and the creativity we are good to go but I believe we have more to look at because music production is not just about beat making and trust me a lot of people get this wrong. For me I think you can be a very good music producer but it does not necessarily make you an engineer,� he noted. He cited America's Timberland as an excellent producer and beat maker but when it comes to how to put the mixes together to have a good sound and some technical aspect of the job, he leaves that work for the professionals. �I don't mind an artiste having his own set � up but at the end of the day are you doing this just to avoid professionals, doing what exactly is it or just to compromise on quality,� Zapp Mallet added. Zapp also said that in Ghana, when a musician grows to a certain age and their popularity wane, they are consigned to the back but that is not so in the Americas, Europe and other developed countries. There are old musicians who are still active and relevant in their various fields.
