Govt Causing Needless Deaths In 3 Regions Of The North ISODEC

The Integrated Social Development Center (ISODEC) wants government to ensure the timely release of funds to health centers in the three regions of the North. This, according to ISODEC, will curb the high rise in preventable deaths being recorded in that part of the country. According to ISODEC, Governments 2014 budgetary allocation for the health services delayed. Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Programmes at ISODEC, Yakubu Zakaria stressed that health service delivery in these critical areas will grind to a halt if the trend continues this year. As of December 2014, funds for over 90 percent of district hospitals had not been paid. He noted that many people are dying due to the delay in the provision of essential resources. The delay is impacting negatively and affecting health service delivery in the Northern and Upper regions, he said. Mr. Zakaria mentioned that most District hospitals have not received any funding and if you go to the rural areas, the basics like soap for washing hands, detergents are lacking. He observed that the situation is making the various health centers a danger to the health seeker.
