Man Dies In Ashaiman Fire

Mr Kwaku Kwatey, a 55-year-old lotto writer, was on Monday dawn burnt beyond recognition when the wooden structure in which he was sleeping caught fire at about 0300 hours. The incident occurred at Old Tulaku in the Nii Tetteh Amui West Electoral Area of the Ashaiman Municipality. Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Yakah, Ashaiman District Crime Officer, who confirmed the incident to the media, said the charred body of Kwatey has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for post-mortem. ASP Yakah added that investigations have commenced into the cause of the incident. Nii Nmai Abbey, an eyewitness, said at about 0300 hours, he saw a flash of light through his window even though there was power outage in the area. Nii Abbey said he later noticed that fire had engulfed the kiosk situated opposite his house and called out for help. He indicated that residents rushed to the scene and poured water on the fire to put it off. He added that fire service personnel who came to the scene after the fire has been put off, discovered Kwatey�s body when they spread the debris for clues.
