Ex-convict Arrested For Car-snatching

A month after he was released from prison custody, a 25-year-old man has been arrested for joining two other persons for alleged attempt to snatch a taxi from its driver. The suspect, David Martey, alias Teye Raja, 25, and his accomplices � Nana Peter Dadson, 43, and Eric Paa Kwesi Essien, alias Ali, 26 � are in the custody of the Accra Regional Police Command. Briefing journalists in Accra, the Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Timothy Y. Bonga, said Martey was a known car snatcher who benefitted from the Justice for All programme in December, 2014. He said at about 12:30 a.m. on January 10, 2015, the three suspects hired the services of a taxi driver from Adabraka Old Timers Spot to Mamprobi and then to Dansoman. The taxi was a Nissan Sentra with registration number GW 5455-11. Cry for help However, he said, when the taxi driver got to Mamprobi, the three suspects ordered him to stop and he obliged. Mr Bonga said Dadson, who was sitting in the front seat, turned off the ignition while the two accomplices who were at the back threatened the driver with a machete and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. �The driver, on getting off, shouted for help which attracted the attention of some residents in the area. The residents immediately called the police for assistance.� Mr Bonga said the police responded swiftly and managed to arrest Dadson while accomplices were arrested later through police intelligence.
