Gomoa Ojobi gets new Odikro

A 40-year old man, a staff of Salecom Quarry Limited known in private life as Mr. Kofi Darko has been installed chief of Gomoa Ojobi under the stool name Nana Atta Kakra IX.

He succeeded his late Uncle Nana Atta Kakra VIII, who died a year ago, and will be later introduced to the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council where he will be officially taken through other customary rites to signify his acceptance by the Council as the Odikro of Gomoa Ojobi.

Nana Kakra IX was carried in a palanquin through the streets of Ojobi township amidst fromtomfrom drumming and brass band music to the “Pusuban” where he took the Oath of allegiance and office, before the Oman as part of his installation ceremony, before he proceeded to the durbar ground where he sat and received homage.

Addressing the gathering Nana Kakra IX appealed to his people to rally behind him to administer his vision towards the total development of the area.

He said his doors were opened to receive suggestions and ideas, to enable him work as required and added that, he hoped that collectively they could forge ahead as one people with a common destiny to develop.

He said his top most priority was the education of the children who would in the future take over the mantle from the aged and urged parents and other stakeholders to invest more in the education of the children rather than any other things.

Nana Kakra IX therefore encourage the children to concentrate on their education to enable them acquire knowledge and skills to help the society. He advised them to resist peer pressure, and not to indulge in pre-marital sex to avoid unwanted pregnancies.

He expressed his gratitude to his family and all well-wishers who in divest ways contributed towards the installation and expressed the hope they they would continue to support and spear head affairs in the town to bring about growth in the area.

Among personalities who graced the occasion were Chiefs from Akyempim Traditional Council including the Omankradu of the Traditional Council, Nana Kwa Adofrakye V and staff of Salecom Limited.
