Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea is wondering whether Ghana is under a curse due to the worsening load shedding exercise in the country.
According to him, government is doing nothing to solve the power situation known in local parlance as 'dumsor' but always find a way to give ‘flimsy excuses’.
"The more promises government gives the more the power situation gets worse" Akomea bemoaned.
Ghana is currently reeling under a steadily deteriorating power crisis, which has forced power producers, transmitters and distributors to shed between 500 and 600 Megawatts of supply.
President John Mahama has attributed the crisis to lack of gas supply from the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGPco) in Nigeria, as well as low water level in the Akosombo dam, Ghana’s main hydroelectric power station, which supplies about 37 percent of the country’s total power supply.
Two of the dam’s six engines have been turned off. Director of Public Affairs of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Nana Yaa Gyantuah has urged Ghanaians to pray for rain to help the situation.
Two other hydro power stations, Bui and Kpong, are also down due to low water level
But Nana Akomea on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday urged government to consult an oracle becuase Ghanaians cannot pay for their sins.
“Our neighbours don’t shed power and so what is really wrong with us because the situation is just too much; it deteriorating day by day.
“What crime have we committed? In fact, we need to really investigate this dumsor issue because it is really getting out of hands” he exclaimed.
